Black-faced Antthrush 黑臉蟻鶇 (São Sebastião)

I went to São Paulo to perform Lost Communications at the FILE Festival, and I was really inspired by the mix of cultures there. On Sundays on Paulista Avenue, you can see those cultures come together, listening to many different styles of musical performance.

The birds there sound just as vibrant. Energetic - that’s the word I’d use to describe the place, the life, and the sound. I recorded the Black-faced Antthrush in São Sebastião. It has a distinct tone and a great sense of rhythm. I composed this little rhythmic piece from its call (with a parakeet in the middle).
